What bar do I use? For lap steel I use a smaller bar on most all non-pedal steels (6 and 8 string). It's It's 3/4" diameter by 2 3/4" long., The one I show is made of delrin plastic with a metal core for weight. I also use the ‘Jerry Byrd’ Dunlop bar you can find in stores with the dimensions listed above. For pedal steel I use a larger bar most of the time. Here's an older video I did comparing different types of steel bars. I also use a JB round-nose bar even on resonator guitars mostly because I don't play Bluegrass much.
